Fund 1: The Holly Heisman Memorial Fund
Helping Women in Need
My first wife, Holly, died of breast cancer in 1994. We have established a fund through The Philadelphia Foundation in her name, the Holly Heisman Memorial Fund (if taking link, look under "H"). The fund was established in 1995 to provide funds for services to benefit women in need, especially battered women, women with breast cancer, or runaway teenagers. Since 1999, it has awarded grants to organizations including: The Child Abuse Prevention Effort, Delaware County Women Against Rape, Living Beyond Breast Cancer, The Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, and the Victim Services Center of Montgomery County.
Please consider donating to this worthy cause! Now on Facebook.
Two ways to donate:

Make sure to mention the fund in the memo field, "Holly Heisman Memorial Fund" - THANKS!!
Each year in August/September we have a FREE entry, rated fundraising tournament with lots of donated prizes! So far this event has raised over $16,000. Moreover, Howard Stern donated some trips to his show to further raise money for the cause, pushing the endowment for the Fund over $100,000! Now on Facebook.

Fund 2: The Dan Heisman Chess Support Fund
Helping Good Kids do Good Things
Helping Good Kids do Good Things
In response to Dr. Bayley's initiative, in May 2005 I donated funding through the Philadelphia Foundation to establish a tax-deductible fund called the Dan Heisman Chess Support Fund. The fund was established to provide support to worthy PA and Philadelphia area junior players via local events like the Greater Philadelphia Junior Invitational Championship and the Greater Philadelphia Scholastic Chess Championship, or a scholastic/collegiate club in PA, Delaware, or South Jersey. The grants are usually given to groups or events who have chess activities and can find (or have) a 501(c)(3) qualified group that will accept the grant.
Like all Philadelphia Foundation Funds, anyone can make tax-deductible donations to the fund. All donations go for endowments (investment whose interest pays for future years). Now on Facebook.
All donations are tax-deductible. Larger donations will receive a confirmation letter for your taxes from The Philadelphia Foundation.
